Chairman Jai-Chul Choi met with Ambassador Jernej Müller of the Republic of Slovenia to Korea to discuss potential collaboration surrounding the upcoming Digital Cleanup Day on March 21, with a focus on reducing digital carbon footprints.

During the meeting, both sides shared concerns about the growing energy consumption and carbon emissions associated with increased digital data storage and online activity. They acknowledged the importance of promoting everyday climate action by encouraging the deletion of unnecessary data and raising public awareness of the environmental impact of digital use.

The discussion also explored ways to engage youth and citizens as key actors in climate response within the digital era. Both parties agreed on the need to foster greater awareness and participation, encouraging individuals to reflect on their digital habits and transition toward actions that reduce invisible carbon emissions embedded in daily digital activities.

Chairman Choi noted that “the digital environment also operates on energy-intensive infrastructure,” adding that small everyday actions can serve as another meaningful starting point for climate response. He expressed his intention to continue exploring avenues for cooperation to advance this agenda.
