[Activity] Chairman Choi, Delivers Special Lecture at Dongguk University’s 120th Anniversary Program

Jai-Chul Choi, Chairman of the Climate Change Center, delivered a special lecture on March 10 at Dongguk University’s Main Auditorium as part of its 120th anniversary commemorative course, “A Journey to Discover the True Self.” The lecture, attended by approximately 400 students, was held under the theme “Lessons from Denmark as a Green Welfare State: Insights from a Diplomat’s Perspective.” Drawing on Denmark’s experience in integrating climate action into national strategy, Chairman Choi highlighted key global trends and policy implications in addressing the climate crisis.
In particular, he emphasized Denmark’s approach to managing uncertainty by responding to interconnected challenges such as climate change, plastic pollution, and biodiversity loss, noting that such integrated strategies will become a critical driver of national competitiveness. During the lecture, Chairman Choi stated, “Climate and environmental challenges do not exist in isolation; they are deeply interconnected and amplify one another. Addressing these overlapping crises requires integrated and proactive strategies.”
The lecture series, organized in celebration of Dongguk University’s 120th anniversary, invites distinguished speakers from various fields to foster students’ self-reflection and broaden their social perspectives.
